Basketball is a team sport involving two teams of five players each who try to score points by shooting a ball through a hoop. Here are the basic rules!
Basic Rules:
Objective:Â Score more points than the opposing team by shooting the ball through the hoop.
Gameplay:Â Teams alternate possessions, attempting to advance the ball up the court and score.
Scoring:Â A field goal is worth two points, while a shot made from beyond the three-point line is worth three points.
Fouls:Â Players are allowed a certain number of fouls before being disqualified. Free throws are awarded for fouls committed against a player in the act of shooting.
Time:Â Games are divided into quarters with short breaks between them.

Passing:Â Players move the ball up the court by passing to teammates.
Dribbling:Â Players can advance the ball by bouncing it on the floor.
Shooting:Â Players attempt to score points by shooting the ball through the hoop.
Defense:Â Players try to prevent the opposing team from scoring by stealing the ball, blocking shots, and guarding opponents.
Rebounding:Â Players attempt to gain possession of the ball after a missed shot.
