Official Tell Me Without Telling Me Rules
Tell Me Without Telling Me is a fun party game where players try to get their teammates to guess a word or phrase without directly saying it. Here are the rules for playing:
Objective
The objective of the game is to have your team guess the most words or phrases within a set time limit.
Setup
Divide into Teams: Split players into two or more teams.
Shuffle the Deck: Shuffle the deck of cards and place it in the center of the playing area.
Set the Timer: Decide on the time limit for each round, typically 60 or 90 seconds.
Gameplay
Starting Play: Choose a team to go first. One player from the starting team will be the describer for the first round.
Drawing a Card: The describer draws a card from the deck and looks at the word or phrase.
Describing the Word or Phrase:
The describer must get their team to guess the word or phrase without saying the word or phrase itself.
They can use synonyms, related concepts, sounds, gestures, and any other creative methods that do not involve saying any part of the word or phrase.
Guessing:
The team members shout out guesses as the describer gives clues.
Once the team guesses correctly, the describer draws a new card and repeats the process.
Passing: If the describer is stuck, they can choose to pass on a card. The passed card is placed at the bottom of the deck, and the describer draws a new card.
End of Round: When the timer runs out, the round ends. Count the number of correctly guessed cards for that team.
Switching Teams: The next team takes their turn, with a new player acting as the describer.
Scoring
Each correctly guessed card earns the team one point.
The team with the most points at the end of all rounds wins the game.
Rules and Restrictions
No Rhyming: Players cannot use words that rhyme with the word or phrase on the card.
No Spelling: Players cannot spell out the word or phrase.
No Part of the Word: Players cannot say any part of the word or phrase.
Winning the Game
Play continues with teams alternating turns until all cards are used or a predetermined number of rounds are played.
The team with the highest score at the end of the game wins.
Notes/Variations
Silent Round: One round where the describer can only use gestures and cannot speak.
Reverse Round: The team members give clues while the describer guesses the word or phrase.
Think Outside the Box: Use creative and indirect ways to describe the word or phrase.
Communicate Quickly: Rapid communication and quick thinking are key to getting more correct guesses within the time limit.
Know Your Team: Understand the strengths and knowledge of your team members to tailor your descriptions effectively.
Tell Me Without Telling Me is a fun and energetic game that promotes laughter and creative problem-solving.
