Official "Siracha: The Game" Rules

"Sriracha: The Game" is a fast-paced, card game inspired by the popular hot sauce. Players must match ingredients to complete recipes while navigating the effects of spicy Sriracha cards. Here are the rules for playing "Sriracha: The Game":

Objective

The objective of the game is to be the first player to complete a set number of recipe cards (usually 3-5, depending on the desired game length).

Setup

  • Shuffle the Deck:Shuffle the ingredient, recipe, and Sriracha cards together to form a single deck.

  • Deal Cards:Deal 5 ingredient cards to each player.
Place the remaining deck in the center of the playing area as the draw pile.

  • Set Up Recipe Cards:Draw 3 recipe cards from the deck and place them face up in the center of the table.
These are the recipes that players will try to complete.

Gameplay

  1. Starting the Game:

    • The player who most recently ate something spicy goes first.

  2. Player's Turn:

    • On a player's turn, they can do the following actions:

      1. Draw a Card: Draw one card from the draw pile.

      2. Play Ingredient Cards: Play ingredient cards from their hand to match the ingredients shown on one of the face-up recipe cards.

      3. Complete a Recipe: If a player matches all the ingredients on a recipe card, they claim that recipe card and place it in front of them. Draw a new recipe card from the deck to replace the claimed one.

      4. Play Sriracha Cards: Play Sriracha cards to affect other players or to gain an advantage. Effects can vary, such as making another player discard cards, drawing extra cards, or changing a recipe requirement.

  3. End of Turn:

    • At the end of their turn, players must have no more than 5 cards in their hand. If they have more, they must discard down to 5 cards.

    • Play passes to the next player clockwise.

Special Rules:

  1. Wild Cards:

    • Wild cards can be used as any ingredient and can help complete recipes more easily.

  2. Sriracha Card Effects:

    • Sriracha cards have various effects. For example:

      • Spicy Challenge: Force another player to discard a card.

      • Extra Spicy: Draw two extra cards.

      • Change Recipe: Swap one of the face-up recipe cards with a new one from the deck.

  3. Discard Pile:

    • Discarded cards go to a separate discard pile. If the draw pile runs out, shuffle the discard pile to form a new draw pile.

Winning the Game

  • The game continues until one player completes the required number of recipe cards (3-5, as decided at the start of the game).

  • The first player to complete the required number of recipe cards wins the game.
