Objective:
Each player aims to fulfill their unique villainous objective as described in their character's rules card. The first player to achieve their goal wins the game.
Setup:
Players: 2-6 players.
Game Board:
Each player has their own Villain Board, which represents their domain and has spaces for actions, resources, and objectives.
Character Setup:
Each player chooses a villain and takes the corresponding Villain Deck, Fate Deck, and Villain Board.
Place the Villain Figures on their respective boards and set the Villainous Tokens to zero on the board.
Villain Deck:
Shuffle the Villain Deck for each player and deal them their starting hand of cards, usually consisting of three cards.
Fate Deck:
Shuffle the Fate Deck and place it face down in the center. The Fate Deck is used by opponents to interfere with your plans.
Influence Tokens:
Place Influence Tokens in the center. These are used to pay for actions and abilities.
Setup Player Boards:
Each player places their Villain Board in front of them and places their pieces (counters, tokens, etc.) in the starting positions as per the instructions on their Villain Board.
First Player:
Determine the first player using a preferred method. This player will start the game.
Gameplay:
The game is played over a series of turns, with each turn consisting of the following phases:
Move:
Move your villain to a new location on your Villain Board. Each location allows different actions.
Actions:
Perform actions by placing your villain in a location and using the actions available at that location. Actions typically include:
Playing Cards: Play cards from your hand to help you achieve your objective.
Gaining Resources: Collect resources or Influence Tokens needed for actions.
Activating Abilities: Use special abilities of your villain or played cards.
Fate Phase:
After performing your actions, your opponents can play Fate cards against you. These cards come from the Fate Deck and can hinder your progress by affecting your actions, resources, or characters.
End of Turn:
Draw a new card from your Villain Deck to maintain a hand size, if necessary.
Pass the turn to the next player.
Villain Objectives:
Each villain has a unique objective card that specifies what they need to achieve to win the game. Examples of objectives include:
Maleficent: Curse all locations on your board.
Jafar: Obtain all three magic items and fulfill a specific condition.
Ursula: Collect a certain number of souls or other items.
Winning:
The game ends as soon as one player successfully achieves their villain's objective. That player is declared the winner.
Tips for Playing:
Understand Your Objective: Each villain has a unique strategy. Familiarize yourself with your villain’s goals and plan your actions accordingly.
Manage Resources: Efficiently use your resources and actions to move closer to your objective.
Anticipate Opponents: Pay attention to the actions of other players and be prepared to defend against Fate cards that might hinder your progress.
