Equipment:
Suspend Game Pieces: A set of Suspend pieces consisting of metal rods of various lengths and colors, a wooden base, and a colored die.
Setup:
Assemble the Base: Insert the metal rods into the holes on the wooden base to create the starting structure. The rods should be of varying lengths and colors.
Decide on the Starting Player: Determine who will start the game. This can be done by any agreed-upon method, such as flipping a coin or rolling a die.
Gameplay:
Taking Turns:
Players take turns rolling the colored die to determine which color rod they must add to the structure.
The player who rolled the die then selects a rod of the corresponding color and carefully adds it to the structure without causing it to collapse.
Balancing the Structure:
Each new rod added to the structure must touch at least one other rod of the same color and cannot touch the table or any other surface.
Earning Points:
Players earn points based on the length of the rod they successfully add to the structure:
Shortest rods (1 point) are easiest to place, while longer rods (up to 3 points) are more challenging.
Toppling the Structure:
If a player's action causes any part of the structure to collapse or fall off, that player loses points equal to the value of the rod that fell off, and play passes to the next player.
Winning the Game:
The game continues until all rods have been added to the structure.
The player with the highest total points at the end of the game is the winner.
Strategy Tips:
Consider Balance: Be mindful of the weight distribution and balance of the structure when adding new rods.
Plan Ahead: Anticipate how each new addition will affect the stability of the tower and plan your moves accordingly.
Take Risks Wisely: Assess the potential consequences before attempting to add longer or more precarious rods to the structure.
Suspend is a captivating game that tests players' dexterity, strategy, and ability to assess risk. With its simple rules and dynamic gameplay, it offers hours of fun for players of all ages.
