Summer Camp is a deck-building game where players compete to become the ultimate camper by collecting merit badges and advancing their campers along different activity paths.
Objective:
The objective of Summer Camp is to earn the most badges by the end of the game by progressing along three different paths on the game board.
Setup:
Board Setup:
Place the game board in the center of the table.
Shuffle the three different path decks (each corresponding to a different type of camp activity) and place them face down next to their respective paths.
Place the badge tokens near the board.
Player Setup:
Each player chooses a color and takes the corresponding player pieces.
Each player places one of their pieces at the start of each of the three paths on the board.
Each player draws five cards from the starter deck to form their starting hand.
Game Play:
Turn Sequence:
On a player’s turn, they can play cards from their hand to move their pieces along the paths or to perform special actions.
After playing cards, the player draws back up to five cards from their deck.
Movement:
Each card in the player's hand has a movement value and can be used to move a piece along the corresponding path by the number of spaces indicated on the card.
Players can only move one piece per turn unless they have a card that allows otherwise.
Special Actions:
Some cards have special actions that can be played instead of moving, such as drawing extra cards, moving additional spaces, or affecting other players' pieces.
Path Progression:
Each path has several checkpoints where players can earn badges.
The first player to reach a checkpoint earns the badge for that checkpoint.
If another player reaches the same checkpoint later, they do not earn the badge.
Deck Management:
When a player’s deck runs out of cards, they shuffle their discard pile to form a new deck.
Players can acquire new cards from the path decks by landing on certain spaces or by using special actions.
Winning the Game:
The game ends when a player reaches the final space on any one of the three paths.
Players then count their badges, and the player with the most badges wins.
In case of a tie, the player with the most cards left in their deck wins.
Additional Rules:
Trading Cards:Â Players can trade cards with other players, but only on their turn.
Team Play:Â Players can form teams and combine their badges at the end of the game to determine the winning team.
Variations:
Shorter Game:Â Play until a player reaches the third checkpoint on any path.
Longer Game:Â Play until a player reaches the final space on all three paths.
Summer Camp offers a fun and engaging experience for players who enjoy deck-building games with a competitive twist.
