Skippity is a fast-paced and engaging game from MindWare that combines elements of strategy and speed. Here's how to play:

Objective

The objective of Skippity is to be the first player to score 50 points by playing your numbered cards in the best possible way.

Components

  • 1 game board with a 5x5 grid of spaces

  • 5 dice

  • 30 numbered cards (with numbers 1 through 10)

  • 5 colored chips (one for each player)

  • Scoring pad and pencil

Setup

  1. Place the game board in the center of the table.

  2. Each player selects a colored chip and places it on the starting position on the game board.

  3. Shuffle the deck of numbered cards and deal 5 cards to each player.

  4. Place the remaining deck face down to form a draw pile.

Gameplay

  1. Rolling the Dice: At the start of each turn, roll all five dice.

  2. Choosing Cards: Based on the numbers rolled, players choose cards from their hand that match or closely match the dice results. For example, if the dice show 2, 4, 4, 5, and 6, and you have cards with numbers 2, 4, and 6, you can use these cards for your turn.

  3. Placing Chips: Place one of your colored chips on the board in a space corresponding to the number on the card you played. If you play a card with the number 5, place a chip in one of the spaces labeled 5.

  4. Drawing New Cards: After placing your chip, draw a new card from the deck to replace the one you played.

  5. Scoring Points: Points are scored based on the numbers you place your chips on. For example, if you place a chip on a space labeled 7, you score 7 points. The score for each turn is the sum of the numbers on the spaces where you placed your chips.

Winning the Game

  • The game continues until a player reaches or exceeds 50 points.

  • The first player to achieve this score wins the game.

Additional Rules

  • Skipping: Players can choose to skip their turn if they cannot play any of their cards. In this case, they do not score any points but can draw a new card.

  • Card Limit: Players must keep their hand at 5 cards. If they play a card, they draw a new one from the deck immediately.

  • Special Spaces: Some versions of the game may include special spaces on the board that offer bonus points or other advantages.

Strategy Tips

  • Plan your moves to maximize the points you can score each turn.

  • Try to play cards that help you place chips on higher-value spaces.

  • Keep an eye on your opponents’ placements and strategize to block or compete for high-value spaces.

Skippity is a great game for developing strategic thinking and quick decision-making while enjoying a fun and competitive experience. Enjoy playing!
